Историческая наука переживает в конце XX в. глубокую внутреннюю трансформацию, которая ярко проявляется и на поверхности академической жизни - в трудной смене поколений, интеллектуальных ориентаций и исследовательских парадигм, самого языка истории. Современная историографическая ситуация все чаще и все уверенней характеризуется как постмодернистская '. Если сравнить некоторые аспекты историографической ситуации конца 60-начала 70-х годов с современной, то контрасты между ними бросаются в глаза.
